My story starts on a rainy May Morning when I headed to the golf club to meet the lovely Emily – a wedding organiser there and everything seem to have been against my travel on that day.I was not driving and htough I love travelling by bus and train this time I regret it.The bus was 40 minutes late, then the train fromGatwick Airpiort was also running 10 minutes late.When I reached Clapham Junction where I had to break a journey in order to connect to a train from London to Guildford, all trains in this direction have been cancelled until further notice due to an unfortunate passenger/ train accident in the area.It was rainy and windy and my back was killing me ….not my idea of a good day.
So, I took a decision to go back home and rearrange another day for our meeting.A week later ,again on Tuesday I was following the same journey and I managed to reach my destination on time with the sun above my head, my camera and a big smile :0))).Meeting Emily was a absolute pleasure – she gave me a tour of the whole property, we had a friendly chat and over the wedding industry trends and a bit of laughter.I look forward to meeting her again and become part of creating some beautiful, unforgetable photo memories for Surbiton Golf Club’s Brides and Grooms.

listening to couples and finding out what kind of ceremony they are looking
for, and then helping them to create their special ceremony, which is uniquely
crafted by herself, just for them. She
can write and conduct Ceremonies for any major milestone in life, and her focus
is on Weddings, Vow Renewals and Baby Naming Ceremonies. As a Wedding Celebrant who trained with the
Fellowship of Professional Celebrants in 2011, she has had the pleasure of creating
over 150 ceremonies. She also offer
something a little more unusual in that she is bilingual and works in both
English and German, giving an added dimension to couples and families, who want
to ensure everyone is included in their ceremony.

has noticed in the weddings:‘I have noticed over the past three or four years
in particular that couples are planning for a smaller more intimate wedding as
against a much bigger event. The smaller
events, say around 25 to 75 guests, often help them to feel more involved, in
control and also feel they can really get every detail perfect for their
wedding. A large wedding can be
stressful and tiring – even if there are several great professionals on
board. Couples can feel quite
overwhelmed with large numbers of guests and how to manage such a large
event. Expectations rise significantly
around a Wedding, not least with the couple themselves who want every part of
their day to be perfect, which in turn becomes a huge responsibility. Smaller more intimate weddings and ceremonies
allow couples to really attend to their guests and relax and enjoy what is
hopefully one of the most important and happiest days of their lives.’

process of creating their wedding ceremony. She always asks couples to get in
touch with her before making any decision about booking, and as long as she has
their date available, this works through either face to face or skype calls
initially. Once the decision is made,
then she asks for a small booking fee, which is deducted from the overall
price, and then closes the date off exclusively for them.

known – such as a Hand Fasting, where the couple have their hands tied with
ribbons during the

tradition which coined the phrase “Tying the Knot” and “ Bonds of Matrimony” as
the ties were symbolic and rings were only really for the wealthy who could
afford silver or gold rings as a symbol of their union.
By now you
may be asking what makes Yvonne unique in the service she can offer a couple
planning their ceremony-she spends all the time that the couple needs and wants
in terms of being there for them from the beginning of our relationship until
the day – sometimes 3 or 4 months, sometimes up to 3 years! She has the ability
to create ceremony in two languages, and a host of experience, advice and
suggestions in terms of creating a totally personalised ceremony that is

Celebrancy work quite late in life, and just love being able to offer couples
their unique love story, created with sincerity and authenticity as well as

held almost anywhere, at any time of day or evening, and any day of the week. There are no restrictions, and I love that
couples are more and more inclined to use favourite places or spaces where they
can put their own stamp on the day, whether that’s indoors or outdoors, in
gardens, by lakes, in woodland or forest, on boats or in manor houses. We have
a mantra in my Fellowship, – “Your Day, Your Voice, Your Choice” and this is I
think what I love most about my work, that it offers choice and gives them the

Earlier in February I have visited the gorgeous Gorse Hill for a meeting with Celeste – the Senior Wedding Organiser.I am more than happy to tell you the story of this amazing Manor House and to share some photos I have captured during my visit and the hospitable tour Celeste has given me.
Gorse Hill is a quintessentially English Edwardian Manor House situated in the stunning Surrey country-side. Set in 17 acres of grounds, with plenty of character and charm, it’s a beautiful venue for any occasion, but particularly comes alive on a Wedding Day.
The mansion house was refurbished in 2017 to a very high standard and now has a new lease of life. Our neutral, but warm colour scheme works with any style and accentuates the Edwardian features of the building.
The owner was Mr Ingram – a successfull underwriter in Lloyds, but he was not destined to enjoy this beautiful, new mansion.In 1912 when Titanic sank,it took a large par tof Mr Ingram’s fortune with her.
During the Second World War a 500 pound bomb, destined for the main railway line, fell in the grounds.
Shortly after the war in 1947, the house became the home of the Southern Railway Training College.
In 1959 the British Transport Commission took over the mansion and its functions were enlarged to embrace all sections of nationalized transport.
At the moment the property if part of he Active Hospitality group.
Gorse Hill is licenced for civil ceremonies up to 90 guest.You will be married in front of paned bay windows overlooking the manicured gardens, followed by a drinks reception on the terrace or in the bar.
Your guests will then move into the elegant restaurant where your Wedding Breakfast and the speeches will take place.
After tea and coffee, it’s time to cut your cake and have your first dance, after which you can let your hair down and dance the night away in the characteristic boardroom which happens to make for the perfect dancefloor.
